How much will it cost to have a custom designed website?
A basic website will start at $750. This includes your domain registry and web hosting for the first year. You will get up to 7 basic pages for your website. Basic pages would include your home page, "about us" page, "contact us" page, "services offered", FAQs, gallery, an interactive form such as the one found here, etc. Extensive interactive forms may increase your cost as may unusual or particularly involved gallery pages. E-commerce sites will increase the cost as well. Costs for additional pages are determined on a case-by-case basis.
During the initial setup, you can make as many changes as you would like within reason. I don't use any templates for my websites so each site I create is completely unique. I do all of the HTML and CSS coding myself and you don't even need to know what that means. Please feel free to call me to discuss your particular needs at 913-231-2275.
Why should I pay to have a website designed instead of getting a free one online?
There are many reasons to have a website designed for you. One reason is time. Most people just don't have the time to learn the skills necessary to build their own website – one that will look good and be functional. There are many companies out there that tell you how easy it is to build your own, but it will still take time to learn the program. And if it doesn't take much time, the finished product will be so generic that your customers will be turned off by your cheap looking site. Your website needs to be constantly working for you not against you. Think of it as an employee that, if nurtured properly, will turn in to the best sales person you've ever had. Why wouldn't you want to invest in that?
Websites also need to be constantly renewed, changed–up and updated in order to be ranked by search engines. This can be time consuming and, in many cases, you will need to learn new tricks every time you want to update. Your time is better spent on other aspects of running your business. Let me handle this part for you!
How long will it take to get my website up and running?
I can usually get a simple site up and running in a week or two, however, the real answer to this questions depends mostly on you, actually. Unfortunately, there are just certain things that I can't do for you such as writing an "About Us" page. And even if you do want me to write it for you, you still have to supply all the information. Which is true of the whole site. Not being an actual mind reader, I will need you to supply the information for all of the pages for your site. The longer it takes for you to get the information to me, the longer your site will take to go live. Having "Page Under Construction" signs all over your site when you first go live is not very professional and is very frustrating for your customers. It is best to have the site as complete as possible before uploading it. Website design is definitely a team effort. I promise to make the experience as painless and easy as possible!Back to the top
How much control do I have over the look of my website?
Your website is, in fact, your website. You have complete control over how it looks. This is one of the many benefits of having a non-template website. Put text, images, buttons, forms, etc. where you want them to go not where the template says you have to place them.
Can I make changes to my website myself?
The real question here is why would you want to? Aren't you paying someone to just handle this for you? I have several maintenance plans available so that any time you want any changes to your website, you let me know and I take care of it for you. It's just that simple.
Who owns the completed website?
The very simple answer to this question is that you own the website. You are giving me control of the site to design and maintain it, but ultimately, it is yours. Should you wish to take your site to someone else to handle, I will email you all of the documents that you need.
What is SEO and why do I need it?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Basically this means making your site attractive to search engines so that you get good rankings; meaning that your site comes up on page 1 instead of page 10. You most likely want your site to come up high in the list when someone searches your particular specialty. There are many things that need to be done regularly to get and then keep good rankings. Making regular updates to your site is critical as is using the correct keywords throughout your site. Along with a host of other things, SEO is imparative to keep your website working hard for you and your business.Back to the top
What are domain registry and web hosting?
Domain registry is essentially adding your domain name (your web address) to the official Domain Name Registry. This is basically a list of all the websites in the world so that only one person ⁄ business can use that name. Think of how confusing it would be if there were several Amazon.com's. To keep this from happening, all new websites must be registered. You must register your domain for at least a year and then renew it for as long as you want the website up. I handle all of this for you.
Web hosting basically means that you are renting space on the internet for your site. Hosting can be a month-to-month thing or a yearly thing. I can also handle this for you.
What if I want / need changes made after the initial setup?
Changes can be made to your website any time and are definitely encouraged. Continuously changing and updating your website ensures that it stays fresh and relevant. Please see our maintenance plans for more information.
Can I have email addresses using my domain name and, if so, how many?
Yes! I highly recommend that you have email addresses using your domain name. I feel that it looks more professional than using something generic like a gmail or yahoo account. You can have as many email addresses as you would like. I can forward them to another email address, set up auto-responders, etc. Technical support for your email addresses is included in the maintenance plans.Back to the top
